Scores of the villagers assembled in Sonanaar village and sought the concerned authorities to look into the “grave” issue. They said due to the lack of facility, villagers, especially students suffer badly.

“The transformer got damaged eight days back and was taken to PDD workshop in order to repair it,  a week has passed and there is a clue about the transformer,” said one of the local protestor  Arshid Ahmed.

“The 250 KV transformer allotted to the village provides the electricity to more than its capacity which often results in damage to the transformer,” the protesting members told this reporter.

While talking to Kashmir Life the AEE Kupwara Mohammad Iqbal said that the department has taken the cognizance of the matter and a team has been assigned to repair the transformer. “It will probably take two days to restore the machine,” Iqbal said.
