In a statement, police said the detention order was issued by the District Magistrate, Baramulla, under Order No. 07/DMB/PSA/2026 dated 30.05.2026, following an assessment of her alleged involvement in activities considered prejudicial to the security of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The detenue has been identified as Haseena Begum, wife of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Sheeri in Narvaw tehsil, Baramulla district.

Police said she has been named in several criminal cases registered under various provisions of law, including allegations related to unlawful and anti-national activities. These include FIR No. 281/2019 at Police Station Handwara under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Ranbir Penal Code, FIR No. 58/2021 at Handwara under sections of the IPC, PDPP Act and Sabotage Act, FIR No. 151/2021 at Bandipora under provisions of the UAPA and IPC, and FIR No. 58/2022 at Sopore under sections of the IPC.

Investigations in these cases, police said, indicated her alleged association with anti-national elements and involvement in activities aimed at disturbing public order and security.

Following execution of the PSA warrant, she was taken into preventive custody and lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah under security arrangements.

Police said the action reflects their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the district and added that legal and preventive measures will continue against individuals involved in activities detrimental to security.
