Northern Railway to Run Special Katra–Haridwar Train

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu division of Northern Railway will operate a special train service between Katra and Haridwar next week to manage the expected rush of pilgrims during Somvati Amavasya, an official said on Tuesday.

The special train (No. 04606) will depart from Katra at 6:15 pm on June 14 and reach Haridwar at 6:30 am the following morning. On the return leg, Train No. 04605 will leave Haridwar at 5:20 pm on June 15 and arrive in Katra at 7:00 am the next day, a railway spokesperson said.

The service will operate as a fully reserved special train and will complete a single round trip. A total of 16 coaches will be deployed, including Sleeper, General, AC 3-Tier and AC 2-Tier coaches.

According to the spokesperson, the train will halt at key stations en route, including Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Saharanpur and Roorkee.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal said the arrangement has been made in view of the anticipated surge of devotees visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra during Somvati Amavasya.

He said the special service aims to facilitate passengers and manage the additional rush, urging travellers to make advance reservations and travel only with valid tickets.
