As Indian cricket team faced-off team England in Birmingham on Sunday, and tasted the first defeat of the tournament by 31 runs, thus beating India’s unbeaten run, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti blamed the Indian cricket team’s new jersey for their defeat on Sunday.

On Friday after the BCCI revealed the ‘away jerseys’, the men-in-blue squad were seen in new orange jersey on Sunday against England. The photo of Jersey was also posted by various cricketers on their twitter handles.

Taking to her twitter handle, Mehbooba wrote: “Call me superstitious but I’d say it’s the jersey that ended India’s winning streak in the #ICCWorldCup2019.”

There had been some debate with regards to the choice of orange as a dominating colour as a section of political class accused the Central government of trying to “saffronise” sport because of the colour.
