SRINAGAR: Noted Kashmiri author, translator and retired Forest Department officer Jenab Abdul Rouf Fazili, widely known by his pen name “Ibn-e-Qadeer,” passed away after a brief illness in Srinagar, triggering widespread grief across literary and cultural circles.

The Fazili family, originally from Bandipora and presently residing in Sector 2, Hillal Abad, SK Colony, Qamarwari, Srinagar, confirmed that the deceased breathed his last following a short illness.
His Namaz-e-Janazah will be offered at Masjid-e-Anjum, Qamarwari, at 11:00 AM.
A respected figure in Kashmiri literary circles, Fazili was known for his contributions as a writer and translator, having authored and translated several works that were well regarded for their scholarly depth and cultural value. In addition to his literary work, he served in the Forest Department with dedication and was remembered for his integrity, humility and refined personality.
He is survived by his wife, son Abdul Rafia Fazili, a noted filmmaker, and a daughter. His passing has been widely mourned by literary, social and cultural communities in the region.
