Noted senior lawyer from Kupwara Malik Dilshad passed away at SKIMS Soura on Sunday morning. He was hospitalized a few weeks ago after he developed serious health complications. He was in his seventies
He practiced law at District Court Kupwara for nearly four decades and was considered a successful lawyer. He is survived by his son Bilal Ahmad Malik who is also a lawyer.
Dilshad hailed from Hayan village near Trehgam in Kupwara district. He had done LLB from Aligarh Muslim University.
His elder brother Sikandar Malik, a former Tehsildar, is an important official witness to Kunan rape case.
His colleagues and dear ones remember him with great words.
“It is shocking we lost an important member of civil society in Kupwara, he was sober, honest, helpful and cooperative,” Kanwal Kashmiri, a local poet wrote on Facebook.
