SRINAGAR

Election Commission on Wednesday, issued notification for Srinagar, Lok Sabha constituency.

The election for the seat is scheduled on April 30.

According to sources more than 96 per cent polling stations have been declared as hypersensitive or sensitive.

According to the notification issued by the concerned returning officer, the last date for filing of nominations for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat is April 9 while the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be conducted on April 10.

Pertinently, National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, the former Chief Minister, and the Union minister is contesting from Srinagar.

Opposition PDP has fielded former Finance Minister, Tariq Hamid Karra while as Raja Muzaffar is contesting on the ticket of Aam Aadmi Party.

In 2009 Dr Farooq Abdullah defeated his PDP rival Molvi Ifkikhaar Hussain Ansari with a modest margin of 30242 votes. Farooq had polled 147035 and Ansari 116793 votes.
