Public Health and Hygiene Division of Srinagar Municipal Commission (SMC) has constituted an inspection squad to check ba

sic facilities in educational institutions located within the jurisdiction of the organization.

The step, according to a government spokesman, was taken in view of various reports received by the Commission regarding non availability of safe potable drinking water and lack of clean toilet facilities in some educational institutions.

The SMC has asked the owners, administrators and principals of all these educational institutions to rectify the above short comings and provide basic facilities of safe drinking water and toilet facilities to students in these institutes.

It was said that in case during inspection these parameters are found in adequate or lacking action under law would be initiated against the violators.
