The Superintendent of Police for North Srinagar, Sajad Khaliq Bhat, was transferred following the lynching of Deputy SP Mohammed Ayub Pandith, news agency ANI reported on Saturday.

Pandith died after people attacked him outside the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar on Thursday night. Pandith, who was on duty, was reportedly clicking pictures of people coming out of the mosque.

This led to an altercation, causing Pandith to fire three shots from his service revolver. The irate crowd then caught hold of him and beat him to death.
