According to a public notice dated October 27, 2026, candidates can submit their application forms and complete the fee transaction until 11:50 pm on October 31. The revised deadline replaces the earlier closing date of October 28.
The extension applies to both online application submission and payment of the examination fee. Candidates must complete both processes by the revised cut-off time to ensure that their applications are submitted successfully.
The UGC National Eligibility Test determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professors and admission to PhD programmes in universities and colleges across the country.
The NTA has clarified that the extension does not alter any other examination-related provisions. All other terms and conditions specified in the Information Bulletin and previous public notices will remain unchanged.
The examination notification was issued on October 8, followed by a corrigendum and an updated Information Bulletin on October 16.
As per the revised schedule, the application correction window will remain open from November 2 to November 4, 2026, until 11:50 pm. Candidates will be able to make permitted corrections to their submitted application forms during this period, subject to the instructions issued by the agency.
The updated Information Bulletin also states that examination results will include marks alongside the Percentile Score.
Candidates have been advised to complete the application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical difficulties. They can access the official NTA website at nta.ac.in or the UGC NET portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in for application-related instructions, eligibility criteria and further announcements.
