SRINAGAR: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026, scheduled for May 3, 2026.

According to the Director of Examinations, all candidates will be required to undergo mandatory biometric verification after frisking and before entering the examination hall.
The agency clarified that candidates need not panic if biometric authentication fails due to technical issues such as device malfunction, poor fingerprint quality, connectivity problems with UIDAI, or medical conditions. In such cases, candidates will still be permitted to enter the examination hall after submitting a written undertaking in the prescribed format, which will be available at examination centres.
The NTA also stated that biometric procedures will not interrupt candidates during the examination, which will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with an extension up to 6:00 PM for PwD/PwBD candidates.
Candidates are permitted to carry transparent water bottles. Those wearing religious attire, full-sleeved clothing, or woollen garments have been advised to report early to facilitate frisking. Footwear guidelines recommend slippers or low-heeled sandals.
A total of 22,79,743 candidates have registered for NEET (UG) 2026, including 13,32,928 female candidates (58 per cent) and 9,46,815 male candidates (42 per cent).
For assistance, candidates may contact the NTA helpline numbers 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or email [neetug2026@nta.ac.in](mailto:neetug2026@nta.ac.in).
The NTA has urged candidates to strictly follow the guidelines and cooperate with examination staff to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.
