The employees of the District Hospital Bandipora in north Kashmir on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against the alleged “murder” of their colleague in Ahamsharief village of the district.

The deceased lady identified as Rehana Gulzar, a health employee by profession was allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws a few days back. Scores of the health employees mostly her female colleagues came on streets to protest against the alleged murder. The protesting employees raised slogans to demand an impartial investigation into the case.

The employees alleged that the victim was being harassed by her in-laws, and her in-laws are the only people responsible for her death.

In 2009, Rehana- a resident of Nusoo area of the district, was married to Lateef Ahmad Baba of Ahm-e-Sharief, and have three kids. According to reports, soon after the incident, happened on October 6,  Rehana was rushed to the district hospital Bandipora, interestingly, the same hospital where she was working as the Head Nurse. As her condition was very critical, she was immediately referred to SMHS for the specialized treatment. But after a day-long battle, Rehana succumbed to her injuries at the Srinagar hospital.

Meanwhile, Police have taken the cognizance of the case. The police have reportedly called the in-laws for the questioning and further investigations are going on.
