SRINAGAR: Scores of National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers on Saturday staged a protest demonstration at Press Enclave here at Lal Chowk, demanding extension of services.
The protestors, who assembled raised slogans in favour of their demands and holding placards in their hands that reads “Covid 19 volunteer ke sath donkha mat kro (Do not cheat us)” and “We want extension NYC/NYV 2019-20”.
“Authorities had promised us that they will extend our service for five years but now they failed to fulfill it. We worked so hard during the pandemic, even 67 volunteers got positive while serving people,” Association President NYC/NYV Malik Abdul Momin said.
While talking to reporters, protesters said that they even have distributed free masks and sanitisers during the pandemic.
“We are all Post-Graduates so we demand the concerned authorities to look into our matter and do not make us unemployed,” protestors said.
