SRINAGAR

On the eve of 24th anniversary of Jamia Masjid operation, the Awami Action Committee on Wedensday said the way sanctity of religious places in Kashmir was being violated time and again indicates that it was a well defined state policy.

The spokesman said the Jamia Masjid operation was led by the tyrant government 24 years ago to stop the voice of Kashmiri leader, Shaheed-e-Millat, Mirwaiz Moulvi Mohammad Farooq who was representing emotions and aspirations of Kashmiris.

Thereafter, the spokesman said that the government policy to desecrate the religious places of Kashmiris has continued till date in a bid to suppress the voice for right to self determination. He said many masjids, Khanqahs including Dargah Hazratbal, Charar-e-Sharief Shrine, Khanaqa-e-Faiz Panah Tral and others were targeted following the proper policy of religious aggression to dislodge Kashmiris from freedom struggle.

Hence the spokesman said the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has asked the AAC party bearers to observe August 25 as Youm-e-Taqadoos day. Terming the day as important, he said it would provide Kashmiris an opportunity to rise above their differences, be it sectarian or political, and put a united face to confront the desecration of Muslim religious places and a constant onslaught to malign Muslims.

In this connection, the spokesman said that AAC would organize a Youm-e-taqadoos day at its headquarters in Rajouri Kadal on August 25, 2013. He said hurriyat leaders, religious personalities, intellectuals and office bearers from across Kashmir would participate in the function during which the challenges faced by kashmiri muslims and Islamic world would be discussed threadbare.

The spokesman said that there would be no strike on August 25, but he appealed people to organize special events for the well being of Islam and for the success of freedom struggle.
