In a statement, the ACB said it had produced the chargesheet in FIR number 14/2023, registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Srinagar, against accused Fayaz-ud-din Shora before the Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar.

The FIR, registered on August 3, 2023, followed a written complaint alleging that the accused had demanded Rs 2,000 as a bribe for listing an under-trial property dispute case before the Executive Magistrate First Class, Khag. A trap was subsequently laid, and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. The money was recovered on the spot, and chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on the accused’s hands.

The statement said that based on facts, circumstances, and cogent evidence, the investigation established the commission of the offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, by the accused public servant.

After obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the government, the chargesheet was produced before the Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar on August 12, 2025, for judicial determination. The next hearing has been fixed for September 24, 2025. (KNO)
