SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration said August 5 will now be celebrated as the “day of resolution for freedom from corruption”. The order was issued on Thursday.

“It is hereby ordered that the 5th of August every year shall be celebrated as the “Day of Resolution for Freedom from Corruption” in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary to the government said in the order. “The occasion shall be marked with pledge-taking ceremonies in all public offices wherein all employees shall take an oath for eradicating corruption from public life and offices.” From now on, the day will witness employees being felicitated and awarded for their “remarkable contributions in the eradication of corruption for the preceding years”.

The order added that the week following August 5, will now be celebrated as “Vigilance Awareness Week” by conducting seminars and workshops on initiatives undertaken by various appendages and individuals of the government.
