SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday attended a two-day conference on “Financing India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat”, organised by the Union Ministry of Finance in New Delhi.
The conference brought together State Finance Ministers and Finance Secretaries from States and Union Territories with legislatures to deliberate on financing challenges and policy priorities linked to India’s development goals.
Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended the inaugural session of the conference, which seeks to provide a platform for discussions on Centre-State fiscal cooperation and policy complementarities.
Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, Finance Ministers and senior representatives from several States and Union Territories are participating in the two-day conference.
The deliberations are focused on identifying financing pathways to support sustainable and inclusive growth, combining academic perspectives with practical policy considerations.
For Jammu and Kashmir, the discussions are also exploring financial pathways with a focus on macroeconomic growth, agricultural transformation and renewable energy, with the stated objective of advancing sustainable and inclusive development in the Union Territory.
