SRINAGAR: Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Omar Abdullah, on Tuesday, said that the BJP has presented a Ramadan gift to Muslims by notifying the CAA, which contradicts the very essence of the constitution.
He made these remarks while addressing the press at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha.
Omar Abdullah asserted that the timing of the notification, just days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, indicates that the BJP is not confident about securing 400 seats in the upcoming polls. “It is evident that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intends to exploit religious sentiments in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Although the CAA was passed in 2019, the decision to notify it shortly before the election campaign commences reveals their intentions.”
“They had previously claimed that they couldn’t lose after the construction of the Ram Temple. However, it appears that they perceive their position to be precarious, prompting them to resort to these new tactics to influence susceptible voters,” he informed reporters.
He further stressed that the BJP aims to exploit religion in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “Muslims have consistently been targeted by the BJP, which is not a new phenomenon for the party. Even in the CAA, Muslims have been singled out. This aligns with the BJP’s historical approach. It seems they intend to employ divisive politics in the forthcoming elections,” he remarked.
