The project has been executed by the Public Works (R and B) Department under the Capex budget at a cost of Rs 781.34 lakh.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, MLA Lal Chowk Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad (Pardesi), Secretary Hospitality and Protocol Avny Lavasa, Director Hospitality and Protocol Ashwani Kumar, along with other senior officials.

The newly constructed three-storey block, which includes a basement, ground floor and two upper floors, comprises 18 accommodation rooms—12 standard rooms and six suites—designed to provide modern and comfortable lodging facilities.

The structure has been equipped with a 13-passenger OTIS lift, central heating system, air conditioning, three linen and store rooms, and a ramp to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The interiors of the accommodation units combine modern design with traditional Kashmiri architectural features. The standard rooms include wallpapered walls, carved rubberwood bed-back panels, Khatamband ceilings and laminated flooring, while the suites feature premium finishes such as laminated wall panels, MDF slat walls, Duco-finished fittings and Khatamband ceiling work.

After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected various sections of the building and reviewed its facilities. He appreciated the quality of construction, aesthetic design and the incorporation of traditional architectural elements.

He stated that the upgraded accommodation infrastructure would further strengthen hospitality services in Jammu and Kashmir and enhance the experience of visiting guests.
