As the chief minister Omar Abdullah arrived in Srinagar after concluding his weeklong personal visit to London, the party is all set to declare its next list of candidates for upcoming assembly elections on Sunday.

Talking to KNS, Nasir Aslam Wani, NC provincial president said: “Yes the party will be issuing its next list of candidates on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, a senior NC leader said that that the State cabinet will meet on August 26 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The cabinet, he said, will take some important decision including some transfers in civil and police department. Issues related Pahari and OBCs are also likely to surface during the cabinet meeting.

Sources said that the 4th list of the party candidates that is scheduled to be declared on Sunday will include the candidature chief minister Omar Abdullah. Omar will go through the list that his party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar has prepared in consultation with other party senior leaders.

Sources said that additional general secretary of National Conference Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal will not contest the polls this time and would prefer to play a vital role in strengthening of the party.

Kamal when contacted said that there is no pick and choose in the party and the nomination of the candidates is done on the constitutional way. “If the party decides to choose me I will be ready. What is wrong with me that I would not contest the forthcoming elections?” Kamal said.

Meanwhile, the state Congress is again set to lock horns with its coalition partner National Conference-asking the chief minister Omar Abdullah to convene the cabinet meet at the earliest.  The state Congress chief Saif-Ud-din Soz said that he is not interested in pulling down the government but when the constitutional institutions do not meet, the government will fall automatically.
