Former chief minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday condemned the attack on students in Shopian and said that how does pelting stones on school children or tourist buses help the advance the agenda of stone pelters.

Taking to a social networking site Omar wrote “How does pelting stones on school children or tourist buses help advance the agenda of these stone pelters? These attacks deserve our unequivocal condemnation & this tweet is mine.”

Earlier, two minor students were injured after a school bus they were travelling in came under stone pelting at Zavoora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

SSP Shopian Shalender Kumar Mishra said that the school bus of Rainbow International school was attacked by “miscreants” with stones near Zavoora village.

In the incident, two students suffered injuries and were taken to nearby hospital where from a seriously injured student namely Rehan Gorsai (2nd Class student) referred to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment.

“We have taken cognizance of the incident and have registered a case and further investigation taken up,” he said.
