National Conference Working President and MLA Beerwah, Omar Abdullah Tuesday held a detailed meeting with the Chief Medical Officer Budgam and concerned Block Medical Officers for Beerwah Constituency at his Constituency Office in Magam, Beerwah. The NC Working President reviewed the functioning of the Primary Health Care Centers and the Sub District Hospital Beerwah in the meeting and sought information about infrastructural and staffing deficiencies, a party statement said this evening.

“Omar Abdullah assured visiting delegations that he would work towards arranging two new ambulances for the PHCs at Gundipora and Narbal and asked the Health Administration to restore or replace the defunct X-ray machines at the PHCs without any delay,” the statement said.

The NC Working President was informed about more than forty vacancies that exist in the Health Department in Beerwah Constituency, following which he sought the filling of these vacancies from the Administration.

He also passed instructions that the SDH Beerwah and PHCs in the Constituency should be staffed with adequate teams of physicians and gynaecologists so that people don’t have to travel for basic health checkups and procedures.

The National Conference Working President also asked the Administration to attach a new main ambulance equipped with appropriate equipment for Sub-District Hospital Beerwah so that patients can be ferried safely and in a timely manner for referrals.

The statement added, “reiterating the need to ensure maximum efficiency of the public health sector, Omar Abdullah said he would ensure that Beerwah Constituency has a fully functional network of PHCs and the Sub-District Hospital has all necessary equipment and is fully staffed.”

“The NC Working President received numerous public delegations at his Constituency Office at Magam, Beerwah and interacted with his constituents and sought feedback over the progress of works that are underway. Omar Abdullah also took note of various public concerns and passed instructions to relevant department for timely redressal.”
