Omar-Led Govt Committed to Supporting Doctors: Dy CM

   

SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday assured the medical fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir of full support from the Omar Abdullah-led government.

Speaking at the inauguration of an additional block at Bone and Joint Hospital in Srinagar, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “The Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir will provide every support to our doctors. However, there is a condition — doctors need to respect the government and the institutions they serve.”

He acknowledged the role of medical professionals and lauded their efforts in providing healthcare. “Doctors are doing a commendable job, and their dedication is appreciated,” he added.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, also addressed the media during the event. She said the additional block at Bone and Joint Hospital was approved in 2014 and had remained pending since then. She expressed satisfaction that the project was now completed and inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Itoo added that certificates were distributed to recently graduated MBBS students, who were commended for their performance. “These young doctors should serve with commitment wherever they are posted,” she said.

On the issue of MBBS intern stipends, the Health Minister said the process for enhancement was in progress and the revised stipends would be announced soon. (KNO)
