Reacting to a video in which two Kashmiri men were thrashed by the Saffron brigade in Lucknow, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on Thursday sought a punishment to those involved in the assault.

“Jenab @rajnathsingh Sahib. You represent this constituency in the Lok Sabha, this is the constituency where Vajpayee Sb was elected from & went on to be PM. If no one else will step in & deliver justice can we expect you to punish those guilty of this assault?,” Omar wrote on his widely followed twitter handle.

Omar also appealed the home Minister Rajnath Sing, who also contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow constituency and was subsequently elected as a Member of the Parliament, to intervene in the matter.

“Nothing will do more damage to the idea of India in J&K than videos like these. Keep thrashing Kashmiris like this on the streets at the hands of RSS/Bajrang Dal goons & then try to sell the idea of “atoot ang”, it simply wont fly,” Omar wrote in another tweet.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti said that Kashmiris are being felt that they are criminals and don’t belong to this country.

“You humiliate & assault Kashmiris. Make them feel like criminals & that they dont belong to this country. Why are you surprised then when young pliable men are taken under the wings of terror groups & indoctrinated?,” Mehbooba tweeted.
