Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Monday highlighted the role of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the economic development of the State and enhancing trade and commerce activities within and outside the State.

Omar Abdullah said the growth and development of Jammu and Kashmir Bank with the passage of time has been significant and its success story is glaring and extra-ordinary. He said J&K Bank is touching new highs as a successful and growing business company which has made its mark in the Country.

The Chief Minister expressed the hope that J&K Bank would grow further and further and emerge as one of the leading business companies in the Country.

Omar was speaking at a function after inaugurating J&K Bank’s National Business Center at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai in presence of Deputy Governor RBI, H R Khan and Chairman and CEO J&K Bank, Mushtaq Ahmad.

The Complex is strategically located in Mumbai’s latest commercial hub surrounded by headquarters of premier banks, financial institutions and other companies of India. The state-of-the-art building owned by the bank houses the bank’s Zonal Office (West), Treasury Operations Office and a Business Unit.

The event was attended by the Bank’s customers, corporate leaders, businessmen, people from media and the Bank’s top management including Executive Presidents, Presidents and other functionaries.

Omar Abdullah also congratulated the bank for consolidating its presence in the economic hub of the Country.

“While pushing deeper into the unbanked pockets within the State, I am delighted to see J&K Bank marching ahead matching steps with Country’s best banks and financial institutions”, he said.

“With diametrically opposite economic realities co-existing in this Country you have to serve the poorest and help the growth and economic development of the State”, he told the bank management.

The Chief Minister also appreciated the leadership capacity of the Chairman of J&K Bank, Mushtaq Ahmad and congratulated him for the new initiatives taken for the growth and development of the Bank.

The multi-storied structure consists of a basement, a stilt level floor, a balcony and nine upper floors. The interiors of the building have been designed in a way to blend the latest décor, eco-friendly aesthetics with the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.

 The ambience within the center has been embellished with Khatamband ceilings, papier-mâché artworks on its walls and pillars, Panjrekari and Khatamband patterns interspersed with colourful motifs imprinted on the glass walls.

Earlier, in his welcome address Chairman J&K Bank said, “As the only listed company from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Bank believes that financial empowerment lies at the heart of social and economic development of people. We have been doing this through the processes that in due course lead to comprehensive growth and development of society.”

Expressing concern over the economic scenario of the country, he said, “As bankers our role assumes more importance and we must contribute to the country’s well-being wholeheartedly and responsibly.”
