Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while reviewing the progress on various projects being implemented under Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding by J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) directed for speeding up the pace on works so that these are completed within the stipulated time frame. He said, “Rehabilitation of affected people due to various projects earmarked for launching under loan-2 of the ADB should receive priority attention.”

As per a statement Omar while directing for making comprehensive proposals for launch of big ticket projects under loan-2 of the ADB, said, “The loan-1 of ADB to various projects is shortly closing as such ERA should concentrate on ensuring completion of these projects within the targeted timeframe.”

The Chief Minister was chairing the Governing Body meeting of ERA here on Monday. The Minister for Planning and Development Ajay Sadhotra, legislators Devendra Singh Rana, Ashwani Kumar, Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, Principal Secretary Planning B.R. Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister B.B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Tanveer Jahan, various administrative Secretaries, Chief Executive Officer ERA Tahseen Mustafa and other officers were present in the meeting.

In his PowerPoint presentation, Tahseen Mustafa said that out of 117 projects taken up for execution under loan-1, as many as 101 projects have been completed so far while the rest are being completed by the end of this year. He said 94 percent of physical targets and 92 percent of financial targets have been achieved by the middle of August 2013.

The meeting has also discussed the action taken report of the ERA on the decisions taken in previous meetings. It also took appraisal of various mega projects under implementation in the State under ADB funding. The meeting reviewed the status of sub-projects and the scope of loan-2 of the ADB.
