At present, Jammu and Kashmir is facing LPG crunch after the Centre imposed a cap on gas cylinders. The situation is such that the people in the valley are being forced to pay more than Rs 1500 for verification of documents. The locals allege a close nexus between gas dealers and agents operating in the market.

According to sources there are only 101 LPG dealers (43 in Kashmir and 58 in Jammu) to cater to around 25 lakh consumers
