As the speculations galore that the chief minister Omar Abdullah is contesting from Sonwar assembly segment during the upcoming elections, National Conference Tuesday stated that the 3rd list of the party candidates will be issued after August 15.

Sources told KNS that Omar is much disappointed with performance of his party workers of Ganderbal due to which he has now decided not to contest from Ganderbal which earlier used to be party’s bastion.  Top party sources confirmed that lack of coordination and the rivalry between the NC workers has perturbed the NC leadership.

A senior National Conference leader while pleading anonymity said that serious deliberations are going on within the National Conference wherein Omar Abdullah is being suggested to contest from both Hazratbal and Sonwar constituencies. “More emphasis is laid on Sonwar assembly segment with the cadre being asked to gear up for the challenge.”

When contacted National Conference general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said that the 3rd list of the party candidates is being finalized and that the same shall be issued after August 15. He confirmed the reports that the name of the chief minister Omar Abdullah will be included in this list.

As the reports earlier surfaced that the senior NC leader and brother of Dr Farooq Abdullah, Sheikh Mustafa Kamal is not contesting the upcoming polls, the NC leadership here remained tight lipped over the issue- stating that 3rd list will clarify the doubts.
