In a scathing attack against former chief minister and National Conference president Omar Abdullah over his remarks that he always strived for dialogue for the Kashmir resolution, ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday said his (Omar’s) claims at present contradict with his past actions.

“Omar could be right when he claims that nothing has changed as it was he who wanted separatists to get rotten in jails and was suggesting bombing Pakistan,” PDP senior leader and education minister Naeem Akhtar told KNS.

“The only difference is that our efforts for ensuring peace and stability in the state are known to everyone and what Omar did is not a hidden entity indeed,” he said and maintained that the PDP initiated efforts for peace and reconciliation in 2002 and earlier the opposite was going on in the state.

“It was Omar who said he wants separatists to get rotten in jails and suggested bombing Pakistan. Now, what he claims at present could be best known to Omar himself,” Akhtar said.

PDP was reacting to Omar’s remarks that if somebody has today batted for talks, it is nothing new. “
