OMCs Cut LPG Cylinder Price by Rs 51.50

SRINAGAR: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Monday reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 51.50, bringing the cost in Delhi down to Rs 1,580. However, domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, according to NDTV.

The revision is expected to ease expenses for restaurants, hotels, and other businesses that rely heavily on commercial LPG. OMCs adjust rates monthly, guided by fluctuations in global crude oil prices and market dynamics.

This is the fourth cut in as many months. On 1 August, prices were lowered by Rs 33.50, following a reduction of Rs 58.50 in July and Rs 24 in June. In April, commercial LPG cylinders were priced at Rs 1,762.

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet has approved a subsidy of RS 300 per 14.2-kg cylinder for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in FY 2025–26. The support, available for up to nine refills annually (pro-rated for 5-kg cylinders), will cost the exchequer Rs 12,000 crore.

Launched in 2016, PMUY provides deposit-free LPG connections to women from economically weaker households. As of 1 July 2025, India had 10.33 crore PMUY connections.
