At Lakhanpur Toll Post, 2400 bottles of liquor were detected and seized by Excise and Commercial Taxes Department from a vehicle bearing a sticker of ‘On BSF Duty’ on its front.
An official from the department told CNS that a vehicle (HR61C-3593 approached Toll Post for clearance claiming that the vehicle is carrying house hold goods. “On physical checking 2400 liquor bottles were found in the vehicle that had been hidden in plastic sacks. The vehicle was bearing a sticker of ‘On BSF Duty.’ The liquor had been procured from Haryana and the bottles were not bearing any manufacturing date and batch number,” the official said.
Two persons including the driver have been arrested who both hail from Haryana state. The official identified the arrested smugglers as Driver Ajay Kumar and Sanjay Singh.
