A daily wager employed with Jammu and Kashmir Projects Constructions Corporation  (JKPCC) died of cardiac arrest when he was on duty at Lach in Handwara on Tuesday.

Reports said that 40-year old Nazir Ahmad Wani son of Gulzar Ahmad Wani a resident of Batagund Handwara who was working as daily-wager with the JKPCC from last 17 years. Wani died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday.

His colleagues said that the deceased was a dedicated worker and was on duty when he complained pain in his chest. “We rushed him to SKIMS Soura, where he breathed his last,” said one of his colleagues.

The family members of the deceased told KNS that Wani was working as a daily wager with JKPCC since 1998 and despite working with the department sincerely was not regularized during these years.

“Those who were engaged as daily wagers with him were regularized but Wani despite being a dedicated worker was not regularized,” family members said.

Meanwhile, family members and villagers appealed government and JKPCC authorities to take steps for the rehabilitation of the Wani family.
