The government has decided to impose restrictions under section 144 in Srinagar on Friday to scuttle the “Jamia Masjid Chalo” called by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on the anniversary of Jammu massacre of Muslims.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone told KNS that six police stations will be put under section 144 on Friday.

Lone said that areas that fall under police stations of Nowhatta, Rainawari, Mahraj Gunj, Khanyar, Safakadal and Maisuma will be placed under strict restrictions under Section 144 of RPC.

The government’s move comes in the wake of Jamia Masjid Chalo called by Hurriyat (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, which has the support of all separatists groups in Kashmir.
