Amid emotional scenes at Muftis’ Fairview residence at Gupkar here, ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers and activists “forced” their high rung politicians that funeral prayers of late CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed be held at Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium.

Witnesses said that as people, ministers, bureaucrats were preparing for Nimaz-i-Jinaza of Mufti inside Fairview residence courtyard, PDP workers started sloganeering and demanded that the funeral prayers be held at much bigger Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium. SK stadium is over 200 metres away from Muftis’ residence.

Participants said that people are now moving towards SK Stadium where the funeral prayers would be held.
