SRINAGAR: One police man was killed and three others were injured when militants attacked an armed police vehicle late Friday evening. Of the three injured one is critical as he has received a bullet in his chest. He is being operated upon in the hospital.

Police sources said that a Jammu & Kashmir Armed Police vehicle 853 was on way to Zewan camp. It was carrying the cops who were on duty for the day on the track around Pathachowk. It was carrying a total of eight cops.

As it reached near Gamander, it was attacked by militants. Four cops were injured in the attack. All the injured cops were from JKAP battalion nine.

Bus driver Meraj ud Din was  injured but has responded back to the traetmnet in the hopistal. A senior police officer said, the slain cop was identfied as Krishan Lal, a head constable. All the injured were rushed to the 92 Base Hopsital that is not far away from the spot of the attack.

Police said they have registered a case and the spot has been taken in to a cordon. No arrest was reported so far.

Lot of civilians joined the rescue in transfering the injured cops to teh hopsital after getting them down the ill fated bus. The injrted were first kep[t on the road till the vehivcle were arranged by the police to evbcauate the injured top the hopistal.
