Two drug peddlers were arrested in Islamabad and Sopore, prescribed drugs recovered from their possession, police said Monday evening.

A police party of Police Station Islamabad established a Naka at General Bus Stand. During naka, an Alto car bearing registration number JK03A-9012 was intercepted driven by Javaid Ahmad Baba son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Sarnal Payeen, Islamabad. On search 14 bottles of codeine phosphate was recovered from the vehicle. Police arrested the accused and seized the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah @ Ashiq Kabli son of Mohammad Ayoub resident of Adipora, Sopore. 384 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon and 860 tablets of Alprazolam were recovered from his possession.

The statement said that one person died while seven others were injured in different road accidents in the valley.

In Islamabad, a Santro car hit and injured a pedestrian Ghulam Qadir Balakie son of Abdul Aziz resident of Batengoo. The injured succumbed to his injuries while on way to Srinagar Hospital.

In Kupwara, two persons Qaisar Ahmad Najar and Mohammad Iqbal Najar residents of Kawari Warnow fell from a running bus bearing registration number JK01G-7842 at Sever Khurhama, resulting in injuries to both passengers. Injured were shifted to District Hospital Kupwara wherefrom Mohammad Iqbal was referred to Srinagar for further treatment. Kupwara police has registered a case in this regard.

In Leh, a Maruti van bearing registration number JKO2L-1898 driven by Mohammad Himat resident of UP collided with a motorcycle bearing registration number JKL10A-3474 driven by Tsering Gonbo resident of Kery Nyoma near Petrol Pump Housing Colony Leh, resulting in injuries to 05 persons. All the injured were shifted to SNM Hospital, Leh for treatment.

The police statement said that two structures were damaged in a fire incident in Budgam.

Fire broke out in the joint residential house of Abdul Aziz Wani and Mohammad Shafi Wani residents of Wangani Darwan Chrar-e-sharif, and engulfed the nearby residential house of Ali Mohammad Wani, resulting in damage to both the structures. Fire tenders brought fire under control with the help of police and locals.
