SRINAGAR: At least one person was killed and 19 others were injured during the police interventions after the killing of top Hizb ul Mujahideen militant’s killing triggered quick forest in the belt. The numbers might change after the communications are restored.

“We received 14 persons at the district hospital Pulwama and three of them had bullets,” a senior doctor at the District Hospital Pulwama said. “All of them were shifted to SMHS in Srinagar.”

Besides, the Public Health Centre (PHC) at Tahab got five injured patients including one who was brought dead. The injured were shifted to Srinagar after first aid.

Most of the patients were shifted to SMHS in Srinagar. “Till 10 pm, last night, we received a total of 19 injured people from the area,” Dr Nazir H Choudhary, the medical superintendent of the SMHS Hospital said. “These included four bullet hit. All of them are safe and stable.”

Dr Choudhary said that none of the injured has received an injury in eyes. The senior doctor at the District Hospital Pulwama said the injuries were in the lower limbs. “The person who was brought dead had multiple firearm injuries on his chest, abdomen and leg,” the doctor said.

Reports from the area said that many others who received smaller injuries were shifted to the near-by medical facilities where they were treated and discharged.

Reports appearing in media have identified the slain civilians as Jahangir Yousuf Wani, 32, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Uthmula.
