A youth was killed and two sustained injuries during an army firing at Nowpora Payeen in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official said that a patrolling party of 55 RR was pelted by youth at Nowpora Payeen in Pulwama district. Army retaliated by firing few rounds which resulted in the death of a one person and another sustained injuries.
The deceased youth was identified as Vikas Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Qadir Rather. Rather was hit by a bullet in chest right side.
The injured girl has been identified as Ruqaya Jan, daughter of Mohidin. Ruqaya was hit by a bullet in her left leg and is being treated at the district hospital in Pulwama.
Locals of the area alleged that the troopers raided a number of houses including one of militant’ s house which triggered clashes in the village.
“The troops vandalized the property and beat up the residents,” they alleged.
