SRINAGAR: A fatal road accident occurred in the Sheeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, resulting in the loss of a man’s life and causing injuries to several others.

According to a police official, the collision took place between two scooters with the registration numbers Jk05L/0160, driven by Burhan Shah, son of Ishfaq Ahmad Shah, and Jk05D/7511, driven by Haroon Rashid. Both scooters were traveling from Namblan towards Sheeri Baramulla district when the accident occurred.

Among the individuals involved in the incident, Nida Farooq Naqshbandi, son of Farooq Ahmad Naqshbandi and resident of Baba Raza, Sopore, Sheikh Huzaif, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh and resident of Kanispora, and Farooq Rashid Wani, son of Ab Rashid Wani and resident of Sangri Colony, Baramulla, along with the scooter riders, sustained injuries.

Local residents promptly transported them to the PHC Sheeri for immediate medical attention. Two of the injured were subsequently transferred to GMC Baramulla for further treatment, but sadly, Haroon couldn’t survive his injuries.

Authorities have registered a case, FIR No. 48/2023, under the relevant sections of the law, and an investigation into the accident is currently underway. (KS)
