A militant has been killed in a gunfight between militants and forces in Shopian district of southern Kashmir on Monday, sources said.
The enounter ensued after a forces party launched an operation in Gattipora village in Keller area after input about the presence of militants.
The hiding militants opened fire on forces party triggering a gunfight, they said.
Reports said that one militant identified as Zahid alias Ubaid has been killed in the gunfight so far. Zahid was associated with Hizb ul Mujahideen.
According to local reports 2-3 militants are trapped at the encounter site.
