SRINAGAR: The Bandipora administration on Thursday announced that traffic on the Bandipora-Gurez road will be allowed only one-way from Bandipora to Gurez on February 13, 2026, subject to fair weather and technical clearance from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

Officials said the decision was taken in view of the snow accumulation and safety concerns along the high-altitude stretch.

A traffic official said that light motor vehicles will be permitted to move from TCP Tragbal between 9 am and 10 am. “Heavy motor vehicles have been barred. No vehicle will be allowed to ply without anti-skid chains,” the official said.

All movement from Gurez to Bandipora has been prohibited for the day, authorities said.

In an official advisory, the administration urged commuters to confirm road status before embarking on the journey. Travellers can contact the District Control Room Bandipora (7006526985) or PCR Bandipora (9596767430) for real-time updates.

An official appealed to passengers and drivers to extend full cooperation. “Safe travel in snow-bound areas is possible only when safety guidelines are strictly followed,” he added. (KNS)
