Authorities on Thursday allowed the traffic movement on Kahsmir highway from Jammu to Srinagar.

An offcial said that traffic was halted earlier due to the bad wether, but due to early intervention by men and mecinery the road is clear now. “We have allowd the traffic movement from Jammu to Srinagar for today,” an offcial from tarffic department said.

The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, was closed on Wednday after rains and snow lashed Kashmir Valley.

The offcial also said that traffic was stopped at around 6:00 AM after lurking threat of landslides in Ramban district, however,  the movement was restored later around 10:00 PM.

There was also light snowfall near Jawahar Tunnel while rains lashed rest of the thoroughfare since Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the weatherman has forecast rains at most places in Jammu and Kashmir in next 12 hours.

“There is possibility of widespread light to moderate rain/snow/thundershowers over the state in next for today,” the official added.
