The link road connecting Bandipora with Ashtengoo and other adjoining villages like Kehnusa, Khanibatchi, Badyara, Halmatpora and Kanlibagh villages is giving commuters nightmares.

Locals allege that authorities have failed to undertake any repair work on the said road, which is sole link between Bandipora town and these areas, since last three years.

According to the locals, the road was macadamized in 2015, and since then authorities have failed to undertake any up-gradation on the road. “Despite the appealing time and again for the proper road facilities there were no initiatives taken by the concerned authorities,” said a local resident Hameed Ahmed Beigh.

They alleged that local administration and other concerned departments are overlooking the problems that people face on daily basis. “The authorities are busy with other roads and pay no attention to the roads of our area. This showed the non-serious approach of Government towards the connectivity of remote areas,” said a resident Mohd Shafi.

“This road is important to us because of the PHC hospital, which caters a huge population. But the present condition of the road forces us to visit other hospitals. We all failed to understand why the authorities did not complete this road,” he added.

However, when Kashmir Life contacted Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora Javid Ahmad he said that the road is in their view and they are issuing the tenders in next month for the macadamization and other restoration works.

Meanwhile, DC Bandipora Khurshid Sanai assured that the administration will try to sort out the problem soon.
