While stressing that Kashmiris should learn lessons from Kanhaiya Kumar’s arrest, release and the scenario developing thereafter, MLA Langate Er Rasheed Saturday said that Kashmir’s own Kanhaiya Kumars are being destroyed by Indian state.

While interacting with people of different walks of life in Nawa Kadal Srinagar today, Er Rasheed said that Kashmiris are not adverse to projection of Kanhaiya Kumar’s emergence on the political scene of India.

“It is the outcome of debate on freedom of speech and one needs to remember that while whole India stood by Kanhaiya Kumar and media and opinion makers created a platform where he could be seen as youth icon but the day he was released like a hero, 19-year-old Ishaq Parray who had secured 98% marks in 10th class and 92% in 12th class, was martyred in Tral,” Er Rasheed said.

“Let New Delhi answer why couldn’t Ishaq and thousands like him became the youth icon and who forced them to join underground militant outfits. Not only Indian state’s arrogant, unrealistic and unacceptable stand on Kashmir is forcing youth to take arms in hand but the whole energy and intellectual capabilities of Kashmiri youth go un-noticed and get destroyed.”

While Kanhaiya and others got a platform from JNU and other universities, Er Rasheed said, student activities are banned in J&K and the “so called national media” which has been glorifying Kanhaiya even if by its negative campaign, has always tried to portrait Kashmiri youth as “terrorists”.

“There is a Kanhaiya in every nook and corner of Kashmir but the India by its state sponsored oppression is keen bent to prove Kashmir’s every Kanhaiya a terrorist, stone-pelter and anti-national as their showing mirror to New Delhi doesn’t suit India.”
