To ensure speedy disposal of pending complaints/enquires and enhance accountability and transparency in the Administration, the State Vigilance Commission Tuesday convened a review meeting with the Home Department in Jammu to assess the progress of corruption complaints/enquiries pending with the Department.

“The Commission stressed on officers of the Department to ensure time bound disposal of pending complaints/enquiries, besides, directives were issued to bring transparency and efficiency in the working of different wings of the Home Department dealing with public issues,” a statement issued by SVC said this evening.

The Special Secretary to Government, Home Department while giving details of complaints/enquires submitted that out of 567 complaints 375 complaints have been disposed off, in 37 cases action taken report has been submitted, status report for 12 has been given and remaining are under probe.

The Commission directed that all pending enquires/complaints including RDAs be finalized on merit before the next review fixed on 11th May, 2016. To strengthen the internal vigilance system in the Department, a “Complaint Monitoring Mechanism” has been upgraded and regular meetings are conducted to ensure redressal, besides, installing of CCTVs in all Jails and issuance of online Gun Licence. The Commission recommended that CCTVs be installed in all Police Stations, vital preferred traffic check points across the state to strengthen internal vigilance in Police Department. Dispensing with policemen visits to individuals for various verifications was also recommended.

The review meeting was chaired by Kuldeep Khoda, Chief Vigilance Commissioner and was attended by Vigilance Commissioners, Dr R K Jerath and Gous-ul-Nisa Jeelani, Special Secretary to Government, Home Department, Director Fire and Emergency Services, Secretary SVC, Addl Secretary SVC, AIG CIV PHQ  and other senior officers of the Home Department and the State Vigilance Commission.
