SRINAGAR: The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar on Friday issued an advisory to prevent spreading of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) among the students studying in schools of the city.

According to the news agency KNO, CEO Srinagar has said, “Cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease have been reported in some schools of district Srinagar.”

He said that in order to prevent spread of the disease any further, Head of Institutions of all the schools are directed to adopt the following measures with immediate effect.

Advisory

1: Parents are advised not to send their wards to school with the following symptoms: Fever, Sores in Mouth, Skin rash, Sore throat, small red spots and blisters.

2: Children with above symptoms be isolated for 5-7 days post onset of the symptoms to prevent spread infection to other children or adults.

3: Educate School children about the signs, symptoms and preventive measures.

4: Maintain hygiene in and around classrooms and ensure wearing of masks and use of sanitizers by all students and teachers. Classrooms if required are periodically sanitized.

5: Heads of all the educational institutes are advised to follow the above directions to prevent spread of the disease among children.

Notably, some of the schools in Srinagar have reported HFMD cases on Friday that compelled the medical and school authorities to issue the safety guidelines for the students.
