SRINAGAR: More than 1.12 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) have been created in Jammu and Kashmir under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the Union Government informed Parliament on Friday, highlighting the rapid expansion of digital health services across the country.
Replying to a starred question in the Lok Sabha, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said 1,12,81,735 ABHA IDs had been generated in Jammu and Kashmir as on July 31, 2026, up from 1,10,50,577 at the end of 2025-26. The neighbouring Union Territory of Ladakh recorded 4,19,541 ABHA IDs during the same period.
The Minister said 95.99 crore ABHA IDs have been created nationwide as of July 31, 2026. The 14-digit digital health identifier enables citizens to securely access, store and share their health records across the country’s digital healthcare ecosystem.
According to the data tabled in Parliament, Jammu and Kashmir’s ABHA registrations have grown steadily since the launch of the mission, rising from 40.71 lakh in 2021-22 to 63.43 lakh in 2022-23, 87.81 lakh in 2023-24, 93.89 lakh in 2024-25, 1.10 crore in 2025-26, and 1.12 crore by July 31, 2026.
The Government said the ABHA is a key component of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, aimed at creating a seamless digital health ecosystem by enabling secure access to electronic health records and improving continuity of care.
Nationally, the cumulative number of ABHA IDs increased from 21.09 crore in 2021-22 to 95.99 crore as of July 31, 2026, reflecting sustained growth in the adoption of digital health services.
The Ministry also informed the House that the Government is promoting ABHA registration through training of healthcare professionals and frontline workers, adoption of digital registration services, district-level monitoring, and information, education and communication campaigns to improve public awareness and uptake of digital health services.
The reply further stated that under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), eligible families continue to receive cashless health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation through empanelled public and private hospitals across the country.
