SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday told the Legislative Assembly that 1,77,65,390 tourists visited the Union Territory between January 1 and December 31, 2025.
In a written response to a question by MLA Hasnain Masoodi, the Tourism Department said the arrivals comprised 36,410 foreign tourists and 1,77,28,980 domestic visitors during the period.
Responding to a separate query regarding the resumption of international flights from Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, Srinagar, the Government stated that the airport is fully equipped with all requisite infrastructure and facilities to handle international flight operations.
The reply said that the airport has adequate arrangements for immigration, customs, security checks, and passenger handling, making it capable of facilitating international air traffic.
However, the Government clarified that the commencement of international flights depends on the operational and commercial decisions of the respective airlines. It added that the airport remains fully prepared at all times to facilitate international flight operations whenever airlines decide to commence such services.
