SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday detained more than 100 suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for questioning after conducting coordinated raids across Ganderbal district as part of a security operation aimed at dismantling alleged terror-support networks.
According to police, simultaneous raids were carried out at multiple locations across the district based on specific intelligence inputs and an assessment of prevailing security concerns. Multiple police teams participated in the district-wide operation.
The detained individuals are being questioned to verify their suspected involvement, if any, in activities considered prejudicial to the security of the Union Territory, police said, adding that the questioning is being conducted in accordance with the law.
Police said the operation is part of its continuing efforts to identify, disrupt and neutralise networks that provide logistical or other support to militant groups.
Officials added that action would continue against those found involved in activities threatening public order or national security, while reiterating the force’s commitment to maintaining peace, communal harmony and security across the district.
No arrests or recoveries were officially announced, and further investigation is underway.
