Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested an overground worker in Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police spokesperson in a statement said: “Acting on specific information about the movement of militants in the area, Baramulla police yesterday arrested OGW Irfan Ahmad Ganaie son of Muhammad Ramzan Ganaie resident of Hajam Mohalla Rathsuna Tral.”
“Some explosives were recovered from his possession,” he said.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that he was in touch with other militants and was planning to carry out attacks in the area,” he added.
“A case FIR number 39/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sheeri. Further investigation into the matter is going on,” he said.
